Mambo Bado album launch this weekend
All is set for singer Jose Chameleone’s dual launch of his latest album, Mambo Bado. The singer says he seeks to revolutionalise the way things are done at these launches.
“I am not in support of CD auctioning at launches. Everyone should be given a chance to buy a record. At my launch, CDS and tapes will be available for the public to buy, not a few rich ones,” he said.

Gospel trio Limit X’s new album now ready
Group member Isaac Ruccibigango on his recent visit to Kampala touched on the issue of an impending new album. Now US-based Ugandan gospel trio Limit X’s new album has a face and name. According to the group’s February newsletter, the album, which Ruccibango said was in the making and had not yet been titled, is now ready, entitled Metamorphosis and due for release this month. However, the date, place and label are not mentioned. “We have worked with different producers and collaborated with several friends in England, Kenya and the USA. We are pretty excited about it,” reads the newsletter.

American Idol 3 onSeries Channel TV
Last year smooth-voiced Ruben Studdard became an international music icon after he scooped the title of American Idol during a roller-coaster music talent search that was broadcast across the globe. This year, his album Soulful is storming up the charts, while a new season of American Idol has again begun the search for the next solo singing sensation in the United States. As of March 15, Ugandan music-reality fans can watch American Idol 3 on the Series Channel, on DStv as the search moves from initial auditions to a glittering June 14 final.

Moses Kays ready to release an album
He is now a notable name in the music circles thanks to his 2002 dance floor hit Ekidongo. The groovy uptempo single narrowly missed the best songs of 2002 list, having extended its dominance to radio albeit in uneven proportions. But, although Moses Kays, an Angenoir Discotheque DJ, whose first claim to fame was the slapstick Rasta Rob double act Kiriri, released a subsequent hit, Kona Eddongo early last year, he never made an album. Now, however, Kays is ready to record a full album. Unlike many local artists who basically arrange their old hits overtime, Kays’ is actually recording brand new material for his maiden project. The six-track record due out at the end of April on the Dick Production label features an assortment of acclaimed production talents.
