Ethnic Jie Karimojong have apologised to the Sudanese Toposa over a raid which left more than 100 Jie warriors dead.
At a reconciliation meeting in Kotido on Saturday, Jie elders said the raid was uncalled for.
Lopeikume, a Jie elder, said the March raid was a misguided attack that was intended for the Dodoth.
“Our boys were misled by an ethnic Dodoth hunter who diverted them to the grazing area where the Toposa kept their cattle at the border,†Lopeikume said.
He said a team of Jie warriors captured the hunter and ordered him to show them where the Dodoth kept their cattle.
Lopeikume said the hunter instead directed them to Pire hills where they were shown large herds of Toposa cattle grazing.
Both the Dodoth and the Toposa shunned the reconciliation meeting organised by Kotido Peace Initiative (KOPEIN).
