NATIONAL championship leader Charlie Lubega faces intense pressure in the MOSAC-Akright 2004 rally that will feature all the big guns.
Lubega, seeking a third straight victory this season, will have to contend with fierce rivals in Moses Lumala, Charles Muhangi, Kuku Ranjit, Riyaz Kurji and Emma Katto — who will be making a guest appearance after a 10-month absence.

“There’s going to be a bigger battle than we expected this weekend. Katto has just come in late and we have accepted his entry as guest driver,” MOSAC president, Kenneth Kitariko, said yesterday.
Lumala (Toyota Celica ST185), Katto (Toyota Celica ST185) and Muhangi (Subaru Impreza) in more powerful group S10 cars pose a major threat to Lubega who downgraded his Mitsubishi Evo4 to avoid forfeiting 20 percent of his NRC points.

The first special stage of the two-day closed route rally that has 12 stages starts at 8.00am today. The rally will be concentrated at Akright’s Kakungulu housing estates on Taibah hill along Kampala-Entebbe road.
Akright Project, Inland Car Depot operators, Trans-sahara International, construction material giants Stone Concrete and Berger Paints Uganda — the manufacturers of robbialac paints are co-sponsors of the rally.
