MAKINDYE division chairman Deo Kijjambu has attacked area MPs for failing to attend council meetings.

He said the MPs, Nsubuga Nsambu (Makindye West) and Micheal Mabikke (Makindye East) were frustrating the division’s decisions.

Kijjambu said the council always comes up with resolutions but the MPs decampaign them.

He was yesterday addressing a council meeting at their headquarters in Makindye.

“MPs do not attend council meetings yet they decampaign our efforts. They should be called upon to explain,” he said.

Kijjambu said the division’s economic performance was not up to standard because most of the activities were politicised.

Kijjambu said sanitation projects worth sh2b aimed at improving water and toilet facilities would be implemented in seven parishes.

The parishes are Katwe, Kabalagala, Wabigalo, Kisugu, Kibuli, Ggaba and Makindye.
William Tumwine, the principal assistant town clerk, said the district introduced rules and regulations governing video halls.

He said the division would close evening markets which operate illegally.
