A SIXTY-MINUTE documentary depicting the uncountable atrocities of the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels is to premier on the local televisions very soon, the Chairman of Uganda Development theatre Association Stephen Rwangyezi has said.

UNICEF sponsored the horror-like documentary code-named War Children.

Shot and directed by Robert Altman, the director of the US-based HallMark Entertainment Inc, it boasts of the state-of-the-art technology used in quality filming.

Rwangyezi also the director of Ndere Centre on Sunday said the film was shot in Nakasongola with Ndere Troupe members as protagonists.

“The film is exclusively meant to raise awareness on the actual situation in the northern and eastern parts of the country inflicted by Kony’s war,” he said.

Rwangyezi said the situation in those areas affected by LRA’s attacks was unbelievable and a true picture needed to be put forward.

“The whole world tends to think that the Kony problem is small.

This is not true as kidnapping, maiming and cutting off people’s ears and lips is a daily menu,” he said.

Col. Kare Kaihura launched the heart rending movie dominated with scenes of abduction and merciless killings at Ndere Centre in Ntinda early February.

The abducted children are forcefully recruited as child-fighters and human shields against the attacking government troops.

Where an abducted child tries to escape or ask for help, he is hacked to death by a fellow child for being unfaithful to the ‘holy spirits’.

“It’s a tough situation of killing to survive and be haunted for the rest of your life,” said Sam Okello, who acted as Kony’s most faithful commander.

Okello said NakasongOla was selected because of its scenic features and sites similar to those in northern Uganda.
