UGANDA’S final Olympic boxing preparations have been given a touch of class.

The five Athens bound fighters and their coach Dick Katende will with effect today camp at Speke Resort Munyonyo courtesy of the team’s Olympic sponsor — the Ezra Boxing Board (EBB).

Jolly Katongole (light-fly), Brian Mayanja (feather), Sam Rukundo (light), Sadat Tebazalwa (welter) and Joseph Lubega (middle) and Katende reported to Munyonyo yesterday eager to make the best of the resort’s facilities.

The picturesque lakeside camp is in sharp contrast to the squalid conditions that the national side is usually subjected to.

“If you want good results, then the preparations also have to be good. Remember you reap what you sow,” said EBB coordinator Johnson Kasajja.

EBB patron Michael Ezra has also set lucrative prizes of houses, cars and cash for boxers who excel in Athens.

Katende said the camp was a very good idea. “The boxers will be focussed without the usual disturbances of their localities.”
