MELODIOUS voices hovered over Makerere Adventist Centre as seven choirs presented an impressive concert on Easter Sunday. A sizeable audience braved the heavy rains to attend the afternoon performance, which was organised by WJR Gospel Production.
Kajjansi Voices of Truth opened the concert with Ensi Eno Enkoyesa (This tiresome world) and Kangende Yesu Ampise (I must go Jesus is calling me). The two songs were a call on people to turn to Jesus, who has power over every situation and circumstance. The choirs produced clear, distinct and impressive voices.
However, the audience was captivated by the demonstrative performance and spectacular dancing strokes of Richard Semakula and Joe Wakabi. The two youthful baritone singers were full of life. They showed that they really liked what they were doing and were actually living it.

King’s Trumpet Wobulenzi sang When I was Sick, drawn from Matthew 25:31-46. The choir’s well-balanced voices, and expressions warmed up the audience. The choir also performed Buli Lw’oba ozitooweleddwa (Come to Him you that are heavy laden, I will give you rest).
Echoes of Light choir based at Light College Katikamu were in full celebration of their youth as they performed with much energy. Other choirs which performed were The Gospelaires based at Naalya, Restored Royals (Busega), Living Voices (Bwaise) and individual gospel artistes Henry Kaweesi and Kawaasi.
Despite the low turn up and the inefficient sound system, the choirs in general put up a splendid Easter concert which affirmed that Adventist choirs are still keeping their legacy of good music.
