Busoga University has clarified that it is still probing examination malpractice and no student has been expelled. In a letter yesterday, the acting vice-chancellor, Nathan Muyobo, said the Senate was still investigating alleged examination malpractices in the last semester’s examinations. He said no decision had been reached yet. The New Vision last week reported that the University had expelled seven students including Iganga district official, Lydia Nyago Kibwika.

A student of Makerere University has been charged with attempting to murder her lover’s wife. Eva Muduwa, 22, a pregnant second-year tourism student, appeared before Buganda Road Court.
She allegedly hired gunmen to murder her lover’s wife, a Kampala businesswoman. Muduwa was remanded until April 21 when the case will commence.

Pastor pays fine for theft

A pastor in Mbarara was on Friday sentenced to six months in jail over theft. Prosecution said pastor Moses Kamugisha of Rweziringiro evangelical church in Isingiro and an employee of Express Network, a local courier, stole sh50,000 intended to be delivered to Juliet Munegyero in Kisoro. He pleaded guilty, saying he had used the money and was ready to refund it.
