A SIXTEEN-year-old orphan with rheumatic heart disease is seeking financial assistance for heart surgery in India.

Rachael Nabbosa (left), who recently dropped out of Green Light High School because of the problem, requires $13,000 (sh25m) to have the operation at the Madras Medical Mission.

The Uganda Heart Foundation deputy director, Dr. John Omagino, said the funds would cover Nabbosa’s medical bills, transport and subsistence for her nurse.

Accompanied to The New Vision offices by her maternal aunt, Harriet Nansamba, Nabbosa said she could no longer walk and felt weak all the time.

“I feel tired all the time, but I have difficulty sleeping,” she said.

She said she wanted to go back to school after the operation, adding that she would love be a doctor so that she could help other people with heart problems.

Deposits can be made in the name of Uganda Heart Foundation on account number 1775930 at the main Barclay’s Bank branch in Kampala.
