First Lady advocates for safe motherhood

THE First Lady, Mrs. Janet Museveni, has challenged members of Uganda Women’s Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO) to advocate safe motherhood, proper nutrition and improved hygiene.

THE First Lady, Mrs. Janet Museveni, has challenged members of Uganda Women’s Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO) to advocate safe motherhood, proper nutrition and improved hygiene.
Museveni, speaking at the UWESO annual general meeting at Kampala Institute recently, said the maladies were largely responsible for the increased number of orphans in the country.
Museveni, who is the patron and founder of UWESO said they should sensitise expectant mothers on malaria, nutrition and hygiene.
“UWESO has to fight the things that have continued to make Ugandan children orphans and vulnerable,” she said.
Speaking at the occasion, Belgian ambassador Konraed Adam said his government, together with the Belgian Survival Fund, would continue to support UWESO in improving the lives ofs the vulnerable groups in Uganda.
