THE embattled Luweero CAO, Simon Mpiira, and two other district officials have been remanded for abuse of office and causing a financial loss of sh28m to the Government.

Luweero Grade I Magistrate Judith Natukunda yesterday remanded Mpiira, chief financial officer Asalph Golola and the chief internal auditor, Mugubya Bbomu in Butuntumula Prison until May 27.

They were arrested on Wednesday morning following a December 22 IGG recommendation that they connived to cheat the district through purchase of bogus tractor spare parts. The IGG said they should be dismissed and prosecuted, but LC5 boss Hajj Nadduli refused.
