THE Rakai LC5 chairperson, Vincent Semakula, has appealed to the local government ministry to re-assess the district before scrapping the Local Government Development Fund from most of the sub-counties.

Semakula (left) said scrapping the funds would leave gaps within the district treasury.

He was meeting officials from the Danish embassy and the local government ministry at the district headquarters on Friday.

Semakula said residents had started realising the benefits of paying graduated tax because of what the LGDP fund had done.

“Even if this is not from the taxes they pay, many tax payers believe that their taxes are contributing to development in the area,” he said.
