Bidandi, Rukutana default on ground rent

FINANCE state minister Mwesigwa Rukutana (right) and the former local government minister, Bidandi Ssali are among the 500 landlords who have defaulted on ground rent on their plots in Kampala.
LONACO was contracted by Kampala City Council (KCC) to collect ground rent but it had failed to collect the rent from the 500 landlords due to the alleged refusal by the landlords.
But the Mengo Magistrate’s Court recently empowered LONACO to go ahead and recover all revenue from the defaulters.
Consequently, LONACO last week gave defaulters just seven days from April 30 to May 9 to clear up.
