DAY-One leader Council Langoya brought another 72 strokes on Sunday for a 36-hole aggregate of 144 nett to win the Kinyara golf open.
The handicap 14 golfer followed his first 72 opening strokes on Saturday to grab his first Uganda Golf Union event in the par 71 Kinyara Sugar Works Club course.

The victory is likely to improve the rating of Langoya who took up the sport in 1977 — though rarely on course.
“I am trying to find more time to practice and play more regularly. My target is to cut down my handicap to a single handicap to qualify for the Uganda Open,” said Langoya after the feat.
Like other players, the champion had problems at the par-three number seven hole where he got a triple bogey.

It is a short par three near a swamp guarded by a large bunker. Most players lost their balls in the swamp after hitting their second shots.
Other upcoming players included 16-year-old Martin Laye (h/c 16) who also tamed a big field. The P.7 pupil of Kinyara Primary School carded 146 nett to win a prize in one of the groups.

Overall winner: Council Langoya 132 nett.
