GULU Police are holding a woman charged with stealing a two-weeks-old baby.

The mother of the stolen baby, Ida Oyella, said she was given two tote-packs of Tyson Waragi by the suspect, Betty Auma, as they sat together near Gulu Taxi-park on Wednesday.

“I got drunk and I realised after some hours that my baby was missing, so I went to the LCs to report the matter,” Oyella said.

The two hail from the same village of Agoro in Kitgum, and usually shelter together at the bus park each night.

Local authorities said the baby was recovered from the kidnapper the next morning around Kony-Paco suburbs.

She reportedly claimed the child was hers.
