ALPHA Rally Team leader Riyaz Kurji is plotting to unleash a factory prepared Subaru Impreza group N on the local scene.

Kurji has placed an order with UK based Pro-drive, the manufacturers of Subaru World Rally Cars.

“I will launch the Subaru in the Pearl of Africa rally,” Kurji revealed last week.

He will be the second driver in Uganda to own a works Subaru Impreza, after 1999 African champion Charles Muhangi.

The Pearl of Africa rally is Uganda’s round of the Africa Rally Championship (ARC) slated for September.

Kurji, seeking to win the ARC title is likely to drive the Subaru in the Reunion rally in November.

The Alpha crew, that jointly leads the ARC series with South African Schalk Burger, will next weekend compete in the Zimbabwe Dunlop Challenge rally.

He will drive a Mitsubishi Evo7 in which he scored 10 maximum ARC points in the Mombasa KCB Safari rally in February.
