KAMPALA — Three Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) employees facing graft charges, were yesterday released on cash bail pending the hearing of their cases. Buganda Road Court Justice Vincent Musoke-Kibuuka ordered Peter Ssozi, Agnes Kimeze and Rita Mukagatare, to deposit sh250,000 each before they were set free.

Man held over murder
MUKONO — Police have arrested Tadeo Kintu of Kasenge village in Nama sub-county for allegedly killing his sister and uncle on Wednesday morning. The Police, who identified the deceased as Manyeni Nakalyango and Kajino Lubowa, said the suspect would be subjected to a mental check up.

Vanilla thief lynched
MUKONO — A suspected vanilla thief was on Saturday beaten to death and his body set ablaze by residents of Kilyabule village, Nakisunga sub-county. Tusoga Sserunjogi and two others still at large, were caught with 20kg of vanilla seeds allegedly stolen from Katumba Nambogo’s garden. The Police said those who killed him would be charged with murder.

UPC warns on violence
KIBOGA — UPC presidential policy commissioner Dr. James Rwanyarare has attacked movement officials for instigating violence among candidates during elections. He was yesterday addressing youth at the district Council hall. Rwanyarare said only 40% of Mbale Municipality electorate voted in the last by-election because of violence allegedly incited by Movement supporters.

EA Airway pay delayed
KAMPALA — Negotiations for the payment of the former workers of the East African Airways have stalled following the death of Attorney General Francis Ayume. State Attorney Carol Mayanja told High court Judge Patrick Tabaro on Thursday that Ayume was personally handling the negotiations.
