<b>Man jailed</b><br>KAMPALA — Makindye Court Grade one Magistrate Mary Ikit recently committed a man charged with defilement to the High Court for trial.

Man jailed
KAMPALA — Makindye Court Grade one Magistrate Mary Ikit recently committed a man charged with defilement to the High Court for trial. Saulo Kakooza Twatwa of Katale, Mayanja zone, allegedly defiled a student leaving her pregnant. He committed the offence between January and July 2003 at his residence.

Suspect held
KAMPALA — A 25-year-old woman in a show of extra- ordinary courage disarmed two panga wielding burglars before the Police gunned down one of them in a city suburb on Thursday. The city Police chief, Benson Oyo Nyeko, said the thugs broke into a clinic near the Caltex filling station in Ntinda, a city suburb.

Thugs rob
RAKAI — Four armed men clad in military uniforms recently robbed residents of Sango bay in Kakuuto sub-county. The district CID officer, Silva Bahane, said the thugs took off with unspecified amount of money.

Teacher held
RAKAI — Kalisizo sub-county councillors and local defence personnel on Thursday arrested a primary school teacher for reportedly obstructing graduated tax collectors. Samuel Sempeera of Kaliisizo Muslim Primary School was arrested from Kalongo village.

Court over
MUBENDE — The district chief magistrate’s court premise, constructed by Khoga Engineering and Construction Company Ltd, was recently handed over to officials of the courts of judicature. It was constructed with funds from DANIDA. The spacious structure, fully furnished with electricity, water and lavatories, was built at sh314m.

One lynched
KIBOGA — Residents of Kikajjo village in Ntwetwe sub-county on Thursday lynched a man who allegedly killed his wife. Evalist Kakooza hacked his wife Silivia Nasazi with a hoe to death, accusing her of divorcing him. The LC1 councillor, Fred Sumujju, said the victim left her husband’s home six months ago due to severe punishment.
