NELSON Kirenda, the Iganga Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), on Friday interdicted the district council inspector, Abdullah Gwaivu, on recommendations from the Inspector General of Government (IGG), Jotham Tumwesigye.

On March 10, Tumwesigye wrote to Kirenda recommending the sacking of a number of officials over dubious dealings involving the stalled lock-up saga.

District officers including councillors got involved in the alleged fraudulent acquisition of lock-ups in the taxi and bus park area in May 2003.

“You are hereby interdicted from duty as per IGG recommendation and should wait for a summoning letter from the District Service Commission(DSC) to defend your position,” Kirenda’s letter to Gwaivu stated.

Meanwhile the council also recently resolved to have district engineer Paul Waiswa and education officer Muzamiru Menya interdicted after the IGG report mentioned them in alleged fraudulent School Facilitations Grant (SFG) dealings.

Others booked for interdiction include the town council speaker, Yusuf Awuye, and the acting town clerk, Batwawula Musasizi.

The district chairperson, Asuman Kyafu, recently told council that Awuye had any moral authority to preside over town council sessions.
