KAMPALA — The four Britons arrested over stealing a flag from the Sheraton Kampala Hotel reportedly lowered it from a pole in the hotel compound.

KAMPALA — The four Britons arrested over stealing a flag from the Sheraton Kampala Hotel reportedly lowered it from a pole in the hotel compound. City Police chief Benson Oyo Nyeko (above) yesterday said the group had been drinking at the hotel till late when they were arrested. Nyeko said their file had been submitted to the Resident State Attorney.

Murderers to be hanged
KAMPALA — Three men, who were on Friday sentenced to death by the High Court looked completely bewildered in the dock as the judge passed a sentence of death against them. Yonasani Serugga, Erunasani Lubwama and Patrick Katete all of Nsaasi village, Nakaseke sub-county in Luweero district were visibly uneasy after the ruling was read.

Woman jailed for baby theft
JINJA — grade one court Magistrate Vincent Mugabo yesterday committed a woman to serve a two-year custodial sentence for stealing a new- born baby from its mother from Jinja hospital. Juliet Nalwanga stole the baby after tricking its mother Sofia Namawejje. She will serve the sentence in Kirinya prison after she pleaded guilty to the offence.

Policeman die in crash
JINJA — A Police detective attached to the Central Police station died while the cyclist who was riding the bicycle they were travelling on sustained grave injuries. Detective Christopher Ojok died after a vehicle knocked them at Mailo Mbili on the Kyabazinga highway.
