HEATHENS lifted the 2004 Barclays sevens cup after defeating and dethroning arch rivals Kobs, thanks to two last-gasp tries from scrum-half Robert Seguya and fly-half Tolbert Onyango.

Heathens, who also lifted the 2002 first edition of the sevens, now boast of two sevens cups in their shelf after ousting 2003 holders, Kobs.

With five minutes to go, Seguya beat Kobs’ Edmund Tumusiime to the ball to earn five points after the teams were tied at 12-12.

Onyango then chanced his arm with a short grubber as defensive man Timothy Mudoola hesitated in a moment of madness to allow the Heathens number nine to touch down.
After a high octane opening, Allan Musoke finished off an impressive Kobs move, stepping inside O’Brien Tumuhindise to cross for the game’s opening try.

In other games, Pirates clinched the plate with a powerful performance over the Buffaloes at the Kampala Rugby Football Club on Saturday.

Deo Tumuhairwe, who scored two tries, was at the heart of a dominant performance by the Pirates pack and although Buffaloes showed dazzling form, Pirates’ forward power meant they were easy winners.

Meanwhile, Mongers took the bowl as they edged to a narrow victory against Kifaru while Rams trampled over Summer Kampers for the shield.
