GULU — Residents of Coope Camp in Bungatira sub-county have appealed to the Government, the World Food Programme and other NGOs to provide them with adequate security, food and medicine. The residents were meeting state minister for security Betty Akech Okullo recently. They asked the Government to deploy more soldiers in the camps.

IDPs advised
LIRA — World Food Programme field director Gilbert Buzu has advised internally displaced persons (IDPS) to relocate to gazetted camps. Speaking during a meeting at Lira Resource Centre recently, Buzu said those outside the camps would not receive relief items.

Okot hails
LIRA — Youth and children affairs state minister Felix Okot Ogong has commended the Amuka militia for improving security in Lango. Okot was recently addressing residents of Kangai subcounty during a tour meant to strengthen coordination between the Amuka and civilians.

NGO gives
APAC — The European Development Fund (EDF) has donated sh45m for the construction of classrooms at Adilo Primary School. EDF district co-ordinator Charles Ogwang recently said the money was budgeted to build four blocks so as to reduce congestion.

Cyclists told
GULU — Mayor Alex Okot Ojera has told bodaboda cyclists to form a co-operative society. Closing a training workshop for 60 cyclists at Acord Resource Centre recently, Ojera said groups would encourage them to save. He pledged to financially support cyclists who had formed groups.

LC says
LIRA — The district vice-chairperson, Rebecca Otengo, has said total forgiveness to Kony’s rebel commanders was the best solution to ending the 18-year-long northern war. Otengo was recently contributing to a talkshow on Radio-Wa. The show encourages rebels to come out of the bush and surrender.
