TWO Local Administration Police officers in Mukono district were on Tuesday sacked over alleged drunkenness and indiscipline while on duty.
Police commander Luke Mbusa told the press that Sula Serunkuma and Obalo Chege were sacked when he found them drunk and immediately ordered their arrest and disarmament.

Man kills step mother

A man, who allegedly killed his stepmother over a land dispute, has been charged and remanded in Luzira Prison.
Ronald Seruggo of Kufu village, Semuto sub-county in Luweero district, denied the charges before Justice Julia Ssebutinde on Thursday.

THE emergency coordinator of the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) in Uganda, Mona Chaya, has said in the next season, FAO will distribute agricultural inputs to 60,000 internally displaced persons in northern camps.

Security nets 19 fishermen

Nineteen fishermen, including 11 Congolese and eight Ugandans, were recently arrested in an anti-illegal fishing operation on Lake Edward.
The chairman of Lake Katwe Beach Management Unit, Sulait Kasunzu, on Monday said the Congolese fishermen were conniving with their Ugandan counterparts to disobey the territorial boundary on the lake.

UEDCL sued over death

THE relatives of a man who was electrocuted in a forest, have sued the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company (UEDCL), seeking compensation.
Paulo Muwanga of Nyondo Village in Buwama died last year as he gathered firewood in Kalandazi Forest.
