THE local government ministry has directed Luweero district to expedite the interdiction of embattled chief administrative officer (CAo) Simon Mpiira, to pave way for investigations and court proceedings, reports Frederick Kiwanuka.
In a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary, Vincent Ssekkono dated June 7, the ministry also directed the council to take similar steps against chief finance officer Asaph Golola and the CID officer, Muguya Bbomu. The two are Mpiira’s co-accused in a sh28m scam uncovered by the Inspectorate Government. They are on bail.
“Following the institution of original charges against the CAO and two other officers, I would like to advise you to take steps to interdict the said officers from duty in accordance with reg. 37 of the Public Service Commission Regulations,†reads Sekkono’s letter.
