ALL athletes to this year’s Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, will fly out on July 30, Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) president Maj. Gen. Francis Nyangweso has said.
“They must be in the games village two weeks to the games. This will help them acclimatise to not only the weather but also the equipment, food among other facilities at the village. It is a must for them to be there early,” said Nyangweso.

Uganda has eight sportsmen who have qualified for the Olympics but only boxers Joseph Lubega, Sadat Tebazalwa, Jolly Katongole, Brian Mayanja and Sam Rukundo, and track athlete Boniface Kiprop have been cleared by their respective international federations.
“For the others (Paskar Owor and Wilson Kipkemei), we are just reading about them in the newspapers. It is not until the international federations confirm the times that we can include them on the team,” he said.

Though confirming that they will sponsor the athletes in the campaign, Nyangweso could not commit himself on boxing because they were yet to approach UOC.
