THE Masaka resident judge, Eridadi Mwangushya, has sentenced a man to 15-and-a-half years in jail after convicting him of defiling his 12-year-old daughter.

Maxisensio Ssendagala, 36, of Misaana in Ndagwe sub-county, lured his daughter into bed under the pretext that his late wife’s ghost had possessed him and demanded that he sleeps with the girl in the same house.

Court heard that on the night of November 14, 2001, Ssendagala went to the girl’s grandmother and demanded for his daughter, saying he wanted to stay with her in the same house as per the demands of his late wife’s ghost.

The woman refused to oblige until he kicked down the door and took the girl away by force.

The following morning, the girl’s grandmother went to Ssendagala’s house, where she found her still sleeping and very weak.

The girl refused to reveal her ordeal, but later narrated it to her uncle, Ssendaula Mpagi.

Mpagi immediately revealed the matter to the grandmother, who took the girl to a doctor.
She was examined and it was confirmed that she had been defiled.

Mwangushya said the evidence given against Ssendagala was overwhelming and sentenced him to 15 years’ imprisonment.
He advised Ssendagala to marry again, instead of turning on his own flesh and blood.
