Kamwenge district has received over sh90m from the area-based Agricultural Mordernisa-tion Programme (AMP) to rehabilitate community roads.
The district AAMP project support officer, Deo Kahangire, on Tuesday said the money would be used to rehabilitate Rukunyu-Nyabitutsi road in Kamwenge sub-county and Ntonwa-Malere road in Bwizi sub-county.
He said the 10km Rukunyu-Nyabitutsi road would cost sh46m, while Ntonwa-Malere would cost sh45m.
“We are rehabilitating these roads to promote agriculture and trade,” Kahangire said.
He said the residents grew a lot of food crops especially maize, adding that it was important to have good roads to enable traders to go directly to the farmers.
