THE water, lands and environment minister, Col. Kahinda Otafiire, has urged Kabale district residents to shun multiparty politics, saying it could bring chaos in the country.

He said the past regimes had caused trouble in Uganda due to multiparty politics.

Otafiire (right) was on Saturday speaking during a fundraising towards construction of a dormitory at St. Paul’s Seminary in Kabale.

He attacked Democratic Party (DP) president Paul Ssemogerere for teaming up with James Rwanyarare, the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) chief, saying, “When I see Ssemogerere working closely with Rwanyarare, I wonder whether these DP guys have brains.”

“If we move back to multiparty politics, we shall be inviting trouble and chaos,” he added.

He contributed sh1.25m while health ministry commissioner Dr. Francis Mwesigye, bought President Yoweri Museveni’s portrait at sh3m.

Sh35m was raised in cash and pledges.

The Bishop of Kigezi Diocese, the Rev. Fr. Callist Rubaramira, flanked by Rector Fr. John Baziminyera, thanked the Old Boys for their support to the seminary.
