KAMPALA — Pump prices at local fuel stations have shot up by sh70 following an increment in fuel prices on the world market. Most Caltex and Total filling stations in the city were selling petrol at sh1,760 from sh1,690, diesel at sh1,470 from sh1,400 and kerosene at sh1,330 from sh1,260.

Acen probe
KAMPALA — Makerere University has resumed investigations into the controversy surrounding Miss Makerere 2004/2005. A team mandated by students’ dean John Ekudu was to probe Simon Abongemera, who was on the organising committee and was also in a relationship with Miss Makerere Melissa Acen.

Nude dancers
KAMPALA — The Police stormed a city pub on Wednesday, arresting seven nude dancers, two of them stark naked. The five men and two women were picked when the police raided Park Pub on Luwum Street at noon, catching the women stark naked and the men in various states of undress. They were members of Big Show Production owned by Stephen Lubega.

Four held
BUGIRI — The Police is holding four armed thugs who are suspected to have been terrorising people travelling on Lake Victoria for over 10 years. Joel Aguma identified them as Ouma, Namanda, Bwire and Yakubu. They reportedly dropped their rifle in the lake during their arrest.
