THE Castrol-Mogas Independence day rally due October 16-17 will return to the eastern town of Jinja where enthusiastic residents overwhelmingly welcomed it in 2002.

Uganda Motor Club (UMC) has confirmed that the ultimate round of the 2004 National Rally Championship (NRC) will be concentrated in Jinja.

Cars will be flagged off in Kampala on October 16 and will head for Jinja for a super special stage at the Agricultural Show Ground in the afternoon. There will be a night stop in Jinja.

The second leg will traverse Jinja and its neighbouring districts.
“There is going to be a lot of fun in Jinja again, we have taken all the action to Busoga,” the rally coordinator Joseph Ossiya said.

Alpha Rally Team boss Riyaz Kurji yesterday, meanwhile, offered Jinja based crew of Mansur Sanya and co-driver Farouk Kirunda sh2m to fine-tune their Mazda 323 and facilitate them in the rally. “It is such a timely offer. We are well facilitated, it is now our task to entertain the home fans,” Kirunda said.

The Jinja boys have formed Masese Fish Packers Team. Kurji is also the proprietor Masese Fish Factory.

Registration is on at Joker’s Sports Bar on Buganda Road.
