A COURT battle over ownership of the Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Commerce external between Makerere University and Makerere University Business School (MUBS) continues.

Through its lawyers, Katera, Kagumire and Co. Advocates, Makerere yesterday filed an application seeking to overturn an interim order issued last week, restraining it from offering the two courses.

However, MUBS lawyers, Henry Rwaganika and Muzamiru Kibeedi, said MUK had not sought permission from the National Council for Higher Education to offer the two courses.
“MUK has usurped MUBS programmes and grabbed the continuing students who have been doing MUBS BCom programme in violation of the regulations. This was done without consulting the applicant’s council and academic board,” Rwaganika said.

Justice Opio Aweri will on Tuesday rule on whether MUBS is entitled to court redress over the claims.

MUBS principal Wasswa Balunywa attended the court proceedings.
