<b>Gombe saga</b><br>KAMPALA — The central regional Police commander, Grace Turyagumanawa, has said the Police found petrol at Gombe Secondary school.

KAMPALA — The central regional Police commander, Grace Turyagumanawa, has said the Police found petrol at Gombe Secondary school. He said the students were planning to set the school ablaze. Mpigi assistant superintendent of Police Joe Obwona said the situation at the school was calm because all students had been sent home.

Orombi sets
MASINDI — Anglican Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi has set December 19 for the consecration and enthronement of Stanley Ntagali, Bishop-elect of the newly created Masindi-Kitara Diocese. Bishop Nathan Kyama-nywa of Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese on Tuesday said the new diocese would be inaugurated the same day despite opposition from members. Ntagali was accused of bribing his way to victory.

Man stabs
KAMPALA — A quarrel between a couple cohabiting in Kwambi zone in Naguru, a city suburb, ended in tragedy when the man stabbed his girlfriend to death. Martin Elangat, formerly working with SPC protectorate, reportedly stabbed Goretti Anya over the weekend. The regional Police chief, Ben-son Nyeko, yesterday said Elangat was on the run.

Lawyer held
KAMPALA — A city lawyer, James Matsiko of Matsiko and Company advocates was yesterday briefly detained at the CID headquarters for insulting detectives there. Edison Mbiringi, the commissioner in charge of crime, yesterday said Matsiko who was handcuffed briefly was later set free.
