The Regional Police Chief Gabriel Tibayungwa yesterday warned motorists, saying the State motorcade and all emergency vehicles have the right of way

The Regional Police Chief Gabriel Tibayungwa yesterday warned motorists, saying the State motorcade and all emergency vehicles have the right of way, reports Patrick Jaramogi.

This follows an incident where President Yoweri Museveni narrowly escaped being hit by a speeding taxi last week.
“The rate at which the state motorcade is being involved in accidents with motorists is very alarming. The public should know that they have a right of way,” Tibayungwa said.

He said as the President travelled to Nairobi last week, a motorist, Robert Bogere, joined the presidential convey at Kitoro humps, nearly crashing the President’s limousine. Tibayungwa said on Independence Day, another driver, Cressue Lugendo, tried to join the presidential motorcade along the Golf course.

He advised all motorists to follow
the highway code to avoid such occurrences.
