POST Bank has asked the Bank of Uganda for a licence to give out loans, the bank’s board chairman, Stephen Mwanje, has said.
The bank, which has been operating as a savings bank since incorporation in 1998, is fully owned by the Government. It has 20 branches in 16 districts.
Speaking during the opening of Post Bank’s head office on Nkrumah Road, recently, Mwanje said lending will enable the bank channel some of the sh7.1b savings into the private sector.
“Our customers demand and deserve a full range of financial services under one roof including loans. We have a good customer base which has demonstrated financial discipline by saving for long,” he said.
