THE Minister of Local government, Prof. Tarsis Kabwegyere, on Saturday commissioned the construction of a 17-kilometre road in Kitagata sub-county, Bushenyi district.

A senior engineer in the local government ministry, Dr. Mbadhwe, said construction of the road was to cost sh350m, adding that Jerusalem Construction Company would build the road.

The road that begins from Kitagata, goes through Kasana and Kyarwera in the neighbouring Bugongi sub-county.

Mbadhwe said the road would be constructed under the area-based agricultural modernisation programme (AAMP), funded by the African Development Bank (ADB) and the Government.

Mbadhwe said the government contributes 10% and 90% is from ADB.

Kabwegyere warned Jerusalem Construction against doing shoddy work which could lead to their losing of tenders.
