THE Kabaka Education Fund (KEF) has released sh12.5m as tuition fees for 21 students in universities and tertiary institutions.
The cheque was handed over by Buganda finance minister J.B. Walusimbi to the chairman of the Buganda Education Commission (BEC), Dr. Fred Masagazi Masaazi, at Bulange on Tuesday.
Masagazi said the money would pay tuition for students this semester. He added that this year, KEF was sponsoring over 5,000 students from primary to university level.
He said, “We have so many needy children who need to pursue further education but due to limited funds, we can only afford to help out a few.”
Masagazi requested Walusimbi to approve the BEC plan of the avenues through which KEF could raise revenue to sustain the programme that has benefited over 20,000 students.
