MASAKA — The police on Wednesday held a constable for allegedly defiling a P.7 pupil, who had been allowed to lodge at the station pending medical examination after she had been defiled by another man. PC Norbert Byaruhanga, attached to the Child and Family Protection Unit at the district Police station, was arrested for allegedly defiling a 15-year old P7 pupil of Kidda Muslim.

Riders fined
MASAKA — Fourteen cyclists have been fined sh100,000 each, for riding without helmets. Nakawa Court Chief Magistrate Margaret Mafabi sentenced them after they pleaded guilty to the charge of failure to comply with a statutory instrument. The convicts, most of them boda-boda cyclists, were arrested along Kira Road in the city.

KAMPALA — A jilted lover has been committed to the High Court for allegedly murdering his girlfriend. Mwanga II Grade One magistrate G.K. Mugoya committed Elly Aluma of Lubya-Masanafu to face trial for repeatedly assaulting Jamidu Namuswe till she died.

Cops ask
KAMPALA — The Police has asked owners of the mobile phones impounded last week to produce their documents. Regional Police chief Benson Oyo Nyeko said the police was carrying out a verification exercise on the phones.
