Buckley High school girl’s boarding school, Iganga has recognised the State Minister for Primary Education, Geraldine Namirembe Bitamazire with a special Award of Honour for her contribution to girl child education.
The award was bestowed on her during the school’s annual music gala recently. She was the chief guest. Lady Justice Anne Mary Magezi, Iganga RDC Godfrey Katamba also attended the function.
While presenting the award, the chairman Parents and Teacher’s Association (PTA), Elder Ndiwalana said unlike other ministers, Bitamazire showed special interest in girl’s education.
“We recognise you for your selfless commitment towards improving girl child education. Rural girls have been able to get access to education than any other era in the history of Uganda,” Ndiwalana said.
“It would be a mistake not to recognise and award you for your commitment to the under privilledged children. You have always sacrificed time to listen to their plight unlike other leaders,” Ndiwalana added.
