TOP TV have decided to seek legal redress as they fight to stop a National Football League Committee (NFLC) decision that Express get a walkover into the Kakungulu Cup final.

NFLC on Thursday gave Express a green light to play KCC in the final after Top TV refused to play their semi-final, claiming the referees appointed were incompetent.

Top TV coach Sam Simbwa has, as a result of the abandonment of the Wednesday game, been suspended from the technical area for six months. He was blamed for intentionally stopping the second semi final leg at Nakivubo.

Top TV manager Emmanuel Sserunjogi says that the decisions taken were not neutral and this has forced the club to write to their lawyers, Katende Ssempebwa and company advocates- who represented them in court last year- to try and intervene. Top TV also wanted the final called off.

Top Radio spokesman Michael Walekwa confirmed the move saying that they looked at it as the only way of getting justice.

“They have already written to their lawyers. Anybody who was at Nakivubo Wednesday saw what happened. There was no match commissioner and who would they appeal to?”

Walekwa said he was puzzled by the decision reached at by NFLC.
“I just do not know how football in this country is managed. If people have hatred for each other, they should not bring that in the administration of football. It is such things that make sponsors run away,” he said.

But FUFA secretary Haruna Mawanda warned that they will have no mercy on clubs that drag them to court.

“This time round, we wont have mercy on these people. We can not simply look on but I hope they won’t go to court,” said Mawanda.

Top TV was involved in another legal battle last year with FUFA, after they were demoted from the Nile Special Super League for walking away on Express. By then, Express needed a better goal difference to lift the league trophy ahead of SC Villa.

FUFA asked them to withdraw the case after over three months of legal battle, which they did.

Subsequently Top Radio Ltd took over the league sponsorship after Nile Breweries had pulled out and Top TV was returned to the league as the 16th team.
