— The State Minister for Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities, Jovino Akaki Ayumu, has warned those campaigning for parliamentary seats to stop, saying they risk being arrested. Addressing the press in the town recently, Akaki said the campaign period was still a year away. He was reacting to a declaration by district deputy speaker David Ebong Abongo that he would replace him in 2006.

— A petition in which over 400 convicts on death row are challenging as unconstitutional the country’s death penalty will be heard on Tuesday. Susan Kigula and 416 others living in the Upper Prison contend that the death penalty violates their right to life, which is protected by the Constitution.

— Ndorwa East constituents have demanded for a share of the sh5m which was given to MPs who support the National Resistance Movement Organisation. Meeting their MP, Avitus Tibarimbasa, on Tuesday, the residents said they wanted the money to mobilise support for the Movement.
