Murchison Falls Park road is impassable with over 50 trucks loaded with merchandise worth billions of shillings stuck at Agunga, reports Frank Mugabi.

Security sources at Agunga, 60km from Pakwach, said the trucks enroute to the West Nile region and parts of southern Sudan have been there for a week.

Sources said heavy rains had created a deep galley on the road.

Works state minister Andruale Awuzu said China Chongqing International Construction Corporation would fixing the section.

Nile coach buses on Sunday swapped passengers because buses on either side could not cross the galley, said Owiny Christopher, a passengers said.

The corporation project manager, Xu Kejian, said on Monday said they had dispatched a team of engineers and machinery to rectify the situation.

He said that the road would opened on Tuesday.
