THE Jinja LC5 chairman has criticised headteachers for overlapping their duties.

Fred Gume said headteachers had deprived other teachers in their schools of their responsibilities.

“Why should a headteacher assume all responsibilities in the school? You cannot be the purchasing officer, accounting officer, supervisor and overseer of all the business in the school,” he said.

Gume was on Friday speaking at a party for Jinja district primary teachers. The party was hosted by Jinja Teachers Cooperative Savings and Credit Society at the Town Hall.

The town clerk, David Naluwairo, advised single teachers to marry.

“Marriage is so sweet and I have learnt that sexually satisfied persons are more productive than those who do not engage in sex,” Naluwairo said.
