TASO festival tomorrow
The annual TASO music and drama festival is to take place at Pope Paul Memorial Community Centre in Ndeeba tomorrow. TASO centres from different districts will compete for trophies in items like creative dance, western pieces, traditional folk songs, poetry, short dramas and personal testimonies. The festival is one of the TASO initiatives to sensitise the public about the scourge of HIV/AIDS.

Traditional music gala
A captivating music festival to feature traditional musical groups will take place at the National Theatre this Sunday starting 1:00pm. The open-air show dubbed ‘Beat that drum’ will feature renowned cultural ensembles like Namua Cultural group from Karamoja, Akore Akogo Team (Ateso), Busoga Thumb Piano, Engyenzi Cultural Troupe (Banyarwanda), Batwa Troupe, Dynamic Adungu Cultural Troupe (Alur), Amore Watmon (Acholi), Percussion Discussion Africa, Piano Wizard Benny Kalanzi, Ab’Oluganda Kwagalana (Ganda) and the Sudanese Dinka Bor Community. Organisers of the event are Club Beer, The New Vision, National Theatre and WBS Television.

Pallisa Inn for contest
A beauty contest to promote investments in Pallisa district takes place in Country Inn Pallisa today. According to the Inn’s manager Dr David Zirabamuzzale, the show will look out for descent attires, traditional dresses, casual and creative wear. But attires which expose the body such as swimming costumes will not be encouraged. The contest targets young ladies of all religions between 18 and 20 years of age. He adds that the contest is aimed at promoting the tourismin eastern Uganda. The winner will walk away with a fully connected MTN mobile phone and other items from sponsors including Nile Breweries. Local artistes like SPACOS, Casey Desire, Go Go Joe and Vibe Rhymes will perform.
