Disaster preparedness minister Lt. Gen. Moses Ali has asked donors to give more support to northern districts.
Speaking to the ambassadors of the US, the Netherlands and Denmark in Moyo on Friday, Ali said donor countries only considered Pader, Gulu and Kitgum districts in the north as war-affected.
“Adjumani and Moyo have also suffered in wars,” he said.
Ali (right) said Adjumani and Moyo were home to the highest number of refugees in the country (over 90,000).
He was responding to a complaint from Moyo district chairman Peter Iku Dolo, who said the district hospital had a leaking roof. Dolo said the district had limited education and transport services.
The refugees complained of limited food supply due to the drought in the last six months.
“We are receiving 3kgs of food per month and we have no food in our gardens,” a refugee told the gathering.
The envoys toured Oligi refugee camp in Adjumani and Belameling in Moyo.
