Art for charity is a rarity — at least in Uganda. So this one is different. Over 50 visual artists have joined hands to produce works of functional art in form of thrones.

Art for charity is a rarity — at least in Uganda. So this one is different. Over 50 visual artists have joined hands to produce works of functional art in form of thrones.

The project, a collaborative effort between volunteers from Abato shop and the Uganda artists Association (UAA), is aimed at benefiting needy children in Nsambya Babies Home. Art pieces in form of Toy chests, thrones and treasure chests are on display at Afriart gallery, in UMA show grounds, Lugogo.

Art for abato, as the exhibition is called, bears a strong sense of childhood, a feeling of innocence and vulnerability that each of us feels at one time in our lifetime. But the most important thing is that this exhibition draws our attention to the plight of the suffering children.

This exhibition is looking at the corporate sector for generous contributions to the noble cause of helping the needy in society.

As the exhibition goes down on Friday, the needy children will stay, so there is a need to help them.
