OVER 70 players from 23 countries, including Uganda are battling it out for top honours in the ITF East Africa under-18 tennis circuit in Nairobi. Uganda is up against opposition from powerful tennis nations like Britain, France, Canada, Israel, Czech Republic, South Africa and hosts Kenya in a week-long tournament that ends December 4.

Academy set
THE Allstars football Academy Holiday Soccer clinic is set to start Saturday at Kitante Primary School. The Kamwokya Christian Caring Community academy has started registering young players. Different high profile football personalities are expected to give the youngster tips.

Two off to SA
NATIONAL top seed Edwin Ekiring and Monica Nakityo will be beneficiaries of a two-week course aimed at helping prepare badminton players ahead of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The duo left for South Africa Sunday for the camp fully sponsored by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) under the Olympic Solidarity programme.

Seeta wins
SEETA High is the only school that came closest to Uganda martyrs secondary school Namugogo at the annual inter-schools sports gala on Thursday. A heavy downpour however ended the games pre-maturely. Soon after Seeta were announced champions of the swimming competition with 1219 points, rain set in. Play in football, volleyball and basketball competitions was abandoned at the semifinal stage.

IDP league on
PENTEACOSTAL Assembly of God (PAG) Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp players opened the second round of their tournament with a victory over Ireda 3-1 win. Denis Odongo and Paul Opio were on mark for PAG in the first half to give their team a 2-0 lead. While George Alol pulled one back after 30 minutes, Daniel Ogwal put the game beyond reach with a well hit strike after a corner kick.
