Wogute wins Baroda Masters’ badminton

ABRAHAM Wogute utilised his first seed status to scoop the Uganda Badminton Grand Masters top prize. Bank of Baroda sponsored the tournament to a tune of sh2.5m.

ABRAHAM Wogute utilised his first seed status to scoop the Uganda Badminton Grand Masters top prize. Bank of Baroda sponsored the tournament to a tune of sh2.5m.
The Kampala Club star, who took over first seed status in the absence of Edwin Ekiring, beat second seed Ivan Karimunda in straight sets, winning 15-11, 15-9.

Wogute won a cash prize of sh80,000, Karimunda settling for sh60,000.

Ritah Namusisi also beat Fiona Nakalema in straight sets for the women’s crown.

Wogute teamed with Navin Krishna to dismiss the duo of William Kabindi and Gilbert Ofuyuru in the men’s doubles.
