THE Police in Fort Portal used tear-gas to disperse rowdy boda-boda cyclists who were protesting the use of helmets.
Kabarole district Police commander Musana Munene said on Monday the motorcyclists blocked the road on Mpanga Bridge in protest of the new law that requires them and their passengers to wear helmets.
“The boda-boda cyclists were beating up their colleagues who had helmets,” he said.
Musana said five suspected ringleaders were arrested and over 28 cycles impounded.
