BUKEDDE were on Saturday crowned champions of The New Vision Inter-departmental soccer tournament after a solitary Deus Nyanzi strike sent Administration crashing.
Nyanzi, a thorn in the Administration rearguard the entire evening, ensured that Bukedde, who agonisingly lost 3-2 to Editorial in the inaugural final last year, exorcised those demons during a hard-fought encounter at the newly-built KCC Lugogo stadium.
Esther Byakika, Human resources Manager handed over the trophy to Bukedde’s skipper Kato Kawuma.
Nyanzi’s goal, in the 58th minute, was a deserved reward for Bukedde’s dominance on the soggy pitch and whipped Bukedde’s vocal support into a frenzy, on top of making the local daily the winners of the bull that was at stake.
Administration had a chance to level matters in the 90th minute but saw a brilliant curling effort rattle the crossbar with Bukedde custodian, Laurian Lubulwa already beaten.
Byakika congratulated all teams for making the tournament a success.
“The effort put in by all teams towards making this a success should be lauded,†she said.
Earlier, outgoing champions Editorial beat Production 6-5 for third place.
