UGANDA telecom has constructed two houses at the Watoto Children’s Home at Suubi Children’s Village on Mityana Road.

utl employees led by the marketing director, Hansen Paulsen (right), on Friday participated in laying bricks in the $24,000 project.
This makes the company the first to undertake a building project in the Children’s Home.

All the other houses were constructed by churches abroad through provision of funds and volunteer constructors.

Paulsen said the project will be under their social responsibility department.

“Social responsibility is one of our core values, and the reason we are working with Watoto Children’s Village is because they are credible, accountable and are making a difference,” Paulsen said.

Watoto Village currently takes care of over 1,000 children taken out of the street, mostly orphaned by AIDS and wars. It is an initative of Pastor Gary Skinner of Kampala Pentecostal Church.
